Utah Summer Vacation
Utah is an amazing state to explore on a summer vacation. The mountains of northern Utah are beautiful and have endless recreation. The red rock of southern Utah has amazing slot canyons, arches, and spectacular sandstone formations to explore. Here are some of our favorite Utah summer vacation ideas.
In northern Utah the Uinta Mountains are the highest mountain range in Utah and are in the beautiful Ashley National Forest. There are endless lakes, streams, and hundreds of miles of hiking trails with some of the most spectacular mountain views in the United States. The south slope of the Uinta Mountains can be accessed by trailheads out of the small town of Altamont, Utah. Utah Family Lodges has a lodge and cabins around Altamont, Utah for a Utah summer vacation with family or friends. It is a great area to hike, fish, swim, and see some of the most beautiful country in the western United States. The south slope of the Uinta Mountains can be accessed from the beautiful Heber Valley or Fort Bridger, Wyoming just over the border. These areas both have amazing lodges for family groups and great outdoor recreation for your Utah summer vacation. There are many lakes to boat and fish, trails for hiking and mountain biking, and both lodges have private swimming pools and sports equipment right on the property to enjoy with your family.
In southern Utah there are amazing places to explore and see the spectacular red rock formations that southern Utah is famous for. Moab is one of the best spots to see what southern Utah has to offer. Arches and Canyonlands National Parks are just outside of Moab and are both amazing parks to see arches and gorgeous red rock canyons. Moab also has some of the best mountain biking and jeeping in the United States. Kanab is almost to the Arizona border and is surrounded by state and national parks. Just northwest of Kanab is Zion and Bryce Canyon National Parks. South of Kanab is the north rim of the Grand Canyon. East of Kanab is the Grand Staircase National Monument and Vermillion Cliffs National Monument. There is amazing scenery all around Kanab and spectacular canyons and red rock formations to explore. Saint George in the southwest corner of Utah is a great area for those that want a nice city to stay in with restaurants and great amenities, but also want to explore the red rock of southern Utah. Just a short drive from Saint George you can explore Zion National Park and Red Cliffs National Recreation Area. It is a great spot for a family to spend their Utah summer vacation.
