Fall Recreation in Utah

Fall Recreation in Utah

The next month is beautiful from the mountains of northern Utah to the national parks in southern Utah. It is one of our favorite times of the year in Utah. The mountains are gorgeous with the fall colors and the national parks have mild weather that is just about perfect for hiking and exploring. Here are a few of our favorite spots in October across the amazing state of Utah.

The Uinta Mountains are spectacular any time of the year, but fall is especially amazing with the fall colors and the cool crisp air. There are many ways to explore these beautiful mountains. The south side of the Uinta Mountains is remote and gorgeous and great for groups that want to escape the crowds. It is perfect for ATV riding, hiking, and fishing. Falcon’s Ledge Lodge, Six Lakes Resort, and Hidden Springs Lodge are all located at the base of the south slope of the Uinta Mountains. The north slope of the Uinta Mountains has some great mountain biking around Park City and Silver Springs Lodge is great for groups wanting to explore the Park City area.

The Moab area has some world-famous recreation. The fall is a great time to see the world-renowned Arches National Park and Canyonlands National Park and get some amazing views of the red rock arches and fall colors. The Colorado River is also amazing this time of year with the fall colors along the river. Mountain biking and jeeping are also among our favorite activities this time of year. They are both great ways to explore the fall colors in the red rock canyons in October. Slick Rock Lodge is an amazing facility for groups of 5 to 70 people just south of Moab and is the best group lodge in Moab.

Kanab, Utah is one of the most amazing geological areas of Utah. It has some spectacular slot canyons and sandstone formations. It also is central to many of the state and national parks in southern Utah. Grand Plateau Lodge in Kanab is the perfect location for exploring Bryce Canyon National Park, Zion National Park, Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park, and Grand Staircase National Monument in the fall.

Saint George, Utah is one of the best outdoor recreation areas in the state of Utah. Zion National Park is just north of Saint George and Snow Canyon State Park is just outside of town. There are many biking and hiking trails around the area. Families will also find many great restaurants and fun things to do around town. The Saint George River Home and Cliff Dwellers Retreat are both great places for groups to stay in Saint George.

Utah Family Lodges has amazing facilities across Utah for family groups to spend time together in the fall!
