Winter Recreation in Utah
The winter months in Utah are full of amazing outdoor recreation opportunities. In northern Utah travelers can find some of the greatest snow on earth and explore the beautiful mountains from December to April. Southern Utah has amazing outdoor recreation year-round. During the winter months travelers will love the peace and quiet while they explore the iconic arches and magnificent slot canyons of southern Utah. Here are a few of our favorite spots to explore and play in Utah during the winter months.
The Park City/Heber area is an amazing area year-round, but the winter months are especially magnificent. The Park City area has many world-class ski resorts and just outside of Heber is some of the best snowmobiling in the country. Winter travelers that want to experience this world-class winter recreation will love the Silver Springs Lodge in Heber Valley.
Saint George, Utah is an amazing Utah winter recreation spot. It has mild winter weather and world-famous outdoor recreation. Zion National Park and Snow Canyon State Park are both spectacular spots to hike and ride mountain bikes. Families and outdoor enthusiasts will love exploring the amazing red rock canyons and formations around this outdoor recreation paradise. The Saint George River Home or Cliff Dwellers Retreat are both great vacation rentals for families playing in Saint George during the winter.
Kanab, Utah is also an outdoor recreation mecca in the winter months and is surrounded by national and state parks. East of Kanab is the Grand Staircase/Escalante National Monument that has many slot canyons and amazing rock formations. West of Kanab is Zion National Park that has some of the most famous red rock canyons and views in the entire country. North of Kanab is Bryce Canyon National Park that has some of the most iconic red rock pinnacles and formations in the world. Just west of Kanab is Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park and is great in the winter months for families with small children. Grand Plateau Resort in Kanab is an amazing resort for travelers enjoying Kanab in the winter.
Moab, Utah is an amazing outdoor recreation area any month of the year, but the winter is one of our favorite times of the year due to the small crowds and the quiet trails. Arches and Canyonlands National Parks are both a short drive from Moab and are amazing areas to explore. Surrounding Moab are some of the best hiking and mountain biking trails in the world and the winter months are great for exploring these trails. Slick Rock Lodge is a perfect place for groups to stay while exploring the Moab area in the winter.
