Utah is one of the best states in the country for winter recreation. Northern Utah has some of the best snow on earth for skiing and snowmobiling and southern Utah has some of the best winter hiking and OHV riding in the southwestern United States. In this blog we will share some of our favorite areas in Utah for world-class winter recreation.
The Uinta Mountains in northeastern Utah is the highest mountain range in Utah and has thousands of square miles of beautiful national forest and hundreds of miles of snowmobiling trails. This mountain range runs east and west and has access on the north slope and south slope. The north slope trailheads can be accessed from Kamas/Heber area of Utah or just over the border in Wyoming. The Silver Springs Lodge in Heber Valley and the Black's Fork River Lodge over the border in Wyoming are both great lodges for families to gather and enjoy time together relaxing and snowmobiling in the beautiful Uinta Mountains. Both of these lodges are great for families up to 40 people and have luxurious accommodations and large hot tubs to soak in at night.
Families that enjoy hiking and exploring national parks will love the Slick Rock Lodge in Moab. This amazing lodge is perfect for small and large families to enjoy hiking and sightseeing in Moab during the winter months. The 5 bedroom lodge is great for small families and the 10 bedroom lodge is large enough for big family gatherings. Slick Rock Lodge is located just a couple miles south of town making it easy for families to explore Arches and Canyonlands National Park and jeeping or riding OHVs on trails around Moab. This luxury lodge is great for families to gather and explore this amazing area and relax in the evening in the hot tub and pool.
Kanab, Utah is one of the best areas in the western United States for families that enjoy exploring red rock formations and slot canyons. This area is surrounded by amazing red rock formations and slot canyons. Buckskin Gulch is the longest and one of the deepest slot canyons in the world. Coyote Buttes has some of the most amazing red rock formations in the world and is located just south of Kanab. Grand Plateau Lodge and RV Resort in Kanab is a beautiful lodge and RV Resort perfect for families to gather and enjoy time together swimming, playing pickleball and volleyball, and relaxing in the hot tub. It is a great location for families to spend a few days as they explore some of the most beautiful red rock formations and canyons in the world.
Saint George, Utah is one of the warmest areas in Utah during the winter months. It is a great area for families to gather in the winter months to enjoy some mild weather and do some hiking and mountain biking. The Saint George River Home and Cliff Dwellers Retreat are amazing facilities for families to relax during the winter and enjoy some time in the sun.
