Northern Utah is one of the best states for a family winter ski trip and the Utah slogan of “Greatest Snow on Earth” is well-deserved. There are more than a dozen world-class ski resorts in Utah and more than half of them are located in the Park City area. Deer Valley Resort, Park City Mountain Resort, and the Canyons Resort are all in the Park City area on the east side of the Wasatch Mountains. Alta, Solitude, and Brighton Resorts are all further west on the Salt Lake side of the Wasatch Mountains and are accessed out of the Salt Lake Valley. All of these resorts are great for families, but the 3 resorts near Park City have more beginner ski runs for families with children or that are just learning to ski. Park City is a beautiful area with great skiing, outdoor recreation, restaurants, and hotels. Families that want to ski in the Park City area, but also want to do some fly fishing on the Provo River or cross country ski at the Olympic cross country ski venue will love the nearby Heber Valley. It is an amazing valley for outdoor recreation and families will love the peace and quiet of the valley. Silver Springs Lodge is a perfect location for families that want to have a world-class winter family vacation or Utah family ski trip.
